Which Colombia eSIM plan fits your trip?

Choose your Colombia eSIM by matching the allowance and validity period to your trip, then compare the selected product details with the local network, band and speed references already shown on this page.

Start with the length of your stay, then allow for navigation, messaging, streaming and work use. Each option below is a plan size that is currently available for this destination.

Short trip

1 GB / 7 days

Best for: A short visit with maps, messages and occasional browsing.

This option pairs the 1 GB allowance with a stated validity period of 7 days.

Usage tip: Save maps before longer journeys and use Wi-Fi for large downloads.

Two-week trip

3 GB / 15 days

Best for: A stay of around two weeks with regular navigation and messaging.

The 3 GB allowance remains available across a stated validity period of 15 days.

Usage tip: Keep automatic app updates and cloud backups on Wi-Fi.

Longer or higher use

10 GB or more / 30 days

Best for: A longer stay or more frequent streaming, video calls or work use.

The 10 GB or more / 30 days profile provides a larger data pool than the short-trip options on this page.

Usage tip: Compare the allowance with your normal phone usage and monitor it during the trip.

Coverage in Colombia

Large portions of Amazonas, Vaupés, Guainía, and Chocó departments have no mobile coverage. B2 (1900 MHz) and B5 (850 MHz) are widely used for LTE; some foreign phones lack B2 or B5 as LTE bands.

How to check mobile coverage in Colombia

The Colombia mobile network source is linked below as a public network reference. Check the places on your itinerary where the source offers local detail, then confirm the network information for the selected eSIM product. The operator table on this page provides the country-level reference, while the selected product details identify which network information applies to your plan.

Accommodation and daily stops

Check your accommodation and the places you expect to visit in Colombia. Indoor reception can differ from an outdoor map, so keep the property Wi-Fi details available as well.

Journeys between stops

Review the full route rather than checking only the arrival city. Save tickets, addresses and maps offline before longer road or rail journeys.

Borders and onward travel

Check the selected product scope for every country on your itinerary. Your Colombia plan and a regional plan may have different included destinations and validity periods.

Phone compatibility in Colombia

Compare your phone with 4G bands B2, B4, B5, B7 and 5G bands n28, n78 in the existing Colombia network table. Support for more of the listed bands gives the phone more options when connecting, while the selected product, location and local network conditions determine the service available.

Set up the Colombia eSIM for your trip

Keep the QR code and installation instructions available offline, and complete each step according to the selected product's instructions.

When validity starts: Validity-start rules can differ by product. Check the selected plan details before installation and travel.

  1. Confirm that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM before purchase.
  2. Save the QR code or manual installation details somewhere you can reach without mobile data.
  3. Use reliable Wi-Fi to install the profile at the time recommended in the product instructions.
  4. When you are ready to use it, select the travel eSIM for cellular data and apply the stated roaming and APN settings.
  5. Keep roaming disabled on your home line if you want to avoid using its travel data.

How to Enjoy Colombia

Colombia offers a rich mix of landscapes, culture and warmth. In the Caribbean, Cartagena’s cobbled streets and colourful colonial buildings invite relaxed exploration. Head inland to Medellín, where the city’s innovative metro cable system offers panoramic views and access to authentic neighbourhoods. For nature, the Coffee Triangle’s rolling green hills provide excellent hiking and farm visits. Colombian hospitality is genuine; learn a few Spanish phrases to connect with locals. Street food is safe in busy areas, but stick to bottled water. Use official taxis or ride-hailing apps in cities. Avoid walking alone after dark in unfamiliar districts. Dance lessons in salsa are a popular cultural entry point.

Top Attractions in Colombia

Cartagena's Old Walled City - A UNESCO World Heritage site with narrow streets, lively plazas and historic fortifications. Best explored on foot early morning to avoid heat.

  • Coffee Triangle (Eje Cafetero) - striking mountain scenery, coffee haciendas and thermal springs. Ideal for a three-day rural escape.
  • Tayrona National Park - Spectacular Caribbean coastline with jungle trails and secluded beaches. Book accommodation months ahead.
  • San Andrés Island - Tropical paradise with crystal-clear waters and coral reefs. Snorkelling equipment is widely available for rent.
  • Bogotá's Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) - Houses the world’s largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork. Allow two hours for a thorough visit.

Whether you prefer colonial history, mountain coffee farms or Caribbean beaches, Colombia delivers substantial variety.

Must-Try Colombian Foods

Ajiaco - A hearty chicken and potato soup from Bogotá, enriched with corn and capers. Served with avocado and cream.

  • Bandeja Paisa - Medellín’s well-known platter: rice, beans, plantain, arepa, fried egg, chorizo and beef. Share it unless you are very hungry.
  • Arepa - Versatile corn cakes eaten everywhere. Try them plain with butter or stuffed with cheese, meat or eggs.
  • Ceviche - Fresh raw fish marinated in citrus, popular on the Caribbean coast. Coastal versions often include coconut milk.
  • Empanadas - Fried or baked pastries filled with meat, potato or cheese. Perfect as a quick street snack.

From Bogotá’s highlands to Cartagena’s seafood shacks, Colombian cuisine balances hearty staples with fresh coastal flavours.

Best Time to Visit Colombia

Colombia’s climate varies by region. The Caribbean coast (Cartagena, Tayrona) stays warm year-round, with a dry season from December to April. The Coffee Triangle and Bogotá have two wetter periods: April to June and September to November. For beach holidays, December to March offers the sunniest weather. July and August are excellent for the Coffee Triangle and Medellín, though occasional rain can occur. These months coincide with the Feria de las Flores in Medellín. Regardless of timing, expect afternoon showers in most inland areas; pack a rain jacket. The high season runs December to January and July to August, so book early. For smaller crowds and decent weather, consider March or November.

What to Pack for Colombia

Lightweight, breathable clothing - Essential for Cartagena and the Caribbean coast. Cotton or linen works well.

  • Rain jacket or poncho - Afternoon downpours are common across much of Colombia, even in dry season.
  • Comfortable walking shoes - Cobblestones in colonial towns and hiking trails in national parks demand sturdy footwear.
  • Sun protection (sunscreen and hat) - The equatorial sun is fierce, especially at altitude and on the coast.
  • Layers for altitude - Bogotá and the Coffee Triangle can be cool, especially mornings and evenings. A fleece or light jacket suffices.
  • A travel eSIM - Stay connected without physical SIM swaps.

Prepare for both heat and sudden chill. A daypack for daily essentials is advisable.

Common questions about travel eSIMs

Answers to the questions travellers most often ask about using an eSIM overseas, from choosing a data plan to setting up before departure. Colombia eSIM

This eSIM is designed for Colombia only and does not include coverage in neighboring countries like Ecuador or Venezuela. If you cross the border, you will need a separate eSIM or roaming plan for that country to maintain mobile service.

Bands B2 and B5 are widely used across Colombia for LTE by Claro, Movistar, and Tigo. If your phone does not support either band, you may experience weak or no 4G signal in many areas, especially outside major cities.

Your eSIM will connect to one of the major local networks: Claro, Movistar, Tigo, or WOM, depending on signal strength and availability at your location. The specific operator is not guaranteed and may change automatically.

Large portions of Amazonas, Vaupés, Guainía, and Chocó departments have no mobile coverage at all. Even with a local eSIM, you should expect no service in remote or jungle areas of those departments.

WOM in Colombia currently offers no 5G service; its network uses 4G bands B4 and B7 only. Your eSIM may connect to WOM's 4G, but it will not provide any 5G connectivity on that operator.

Compare 1 GB / 7 days, 3 GB / 15 days and 10 GB or more / 30 days. Use the shorter profiles for lighter maps and messaging use, then compare the larger allowance for streaming, video calls or work apps.

The start rule is product-specific. Review the selected plan details before installing it so you know whether any action is required before arrival.
