Which Oman eSIM plan fits your trip?

Choose your Oman eSIM by matching the allowance and validity period to your trip, then compare the selected product details with the local network, band and speed references already shown on this page.

Start with the length of your stay, then allow for navigation, messaging, streaming and work use. Each option below is a plan size that is currently available for this destination.

Short trip

1 GB / 7 days

Best for: A short visit with maps, messages and occasional browsing.

This option pairs the 1 GB allowance with a stated validity period of 7 days.

Usage tip: Save maps before longer journeys and use Wi-Fi for large downloads.

Two-week trip

3 GB / 15 days

Best for: A stay of around two weeks with regular navigation and messaging.

The 3 GB allowance remains available across a stated validity period of 15 days.

Usage tip: Keep automatic app updates and cloud backups on Wi-Fi.

Longer or higher use

10 GB or more / 30 days

Best for: A longer stay or more frequent streaming, video calls or work use.

The 10 GB or more / 30 days profile provides a larger data pool than the short-trip options on this page.

Usage tip: Compare the allowance with your normal phone usage and monitor it during the trip.

Coverage in Oman

Extensive desert interior and mountain ranges have no mobile coverage. B20 (800 MHz) is used for rural LTE coverage; some foreign phones lack this band.

How to check mobile coverage in Oman

The Oman mobile network source is linked below as a public network reference. Check the places on your itinerary where the source offers local detail, then confirm the network information for the selected eSIM product. The operator table on this page provides the country-level reference, while the selected product details identify which network information applies to your plan.

Accommodation and daily stops

Check your accommodation and the places you expect to visit in Oman. Indoor reception can differ from an outdoor map, so keep the property Wi-Fi details available as well.

Journeys between stops

Review the full route rather than checking only the arrival city. Save tickets, addresses and maps offline before longer road or rail journeys.

Borders and onward travel

Check the selected product scope for every country on your itinerary. Your Oman plan and a regional plan may have different included destinations and validity periods.

Phone compatibility in Oman

Compare your phone with 4G bands B1, B3, B8, B20, B40 and 5G bands n28, n40, n78 in the existing Oman network table. Support for more of the listed bands gives the phone more options when connecting, while the selected product, location and local network conditions determine the service available.

Set up the Oman eSIM for your trip

Keep the QR code and installation instructions available offline, and complete each step according to the selected product's instructions.

When validity starts: Validity-start rules can differ by product. Check the selected plan details before installation and travel.

  1. Confirm that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM before purchase.
  2. Save the QR code or manual installation details somewhere you can reach without mobile data.
  3. Use reliable Wi-Fi to install the profile at the time recommended in the product instructions.
  4. When you are ready to use it, select the travel eSIM for cellular data and apply the stated roaming and APN settings.
  5. Keep roaming disabled on your home line if you want to avoid using its travel data.

How to Make the Most of Oman

Oman offers a blend of dramatic landscapes and warm hospitality. To truly enjoy your visit, slow down and use local customs. Dress modestly in public, especially in markets and near mosques; for women, covering shoulders and knees is expected. Men should also avoid shorts outside beach resorts. Greet with As-salamu alaykum and accept offers of coffee or dates - refusal can seem rude. Friday is a holy day, so many shops and attractions open later or close entirely. Plan accordingly. With a rental car, you can explore remote wadis and fishing villages at your own pace. In the UNESCO-listed Dhofar region, the monsoon season from June to September turns the desert green; book accommodation well ahead if you visit then. Tipping is not obligatory but rounding up taxi fares or leaving 10 per cent at nicer restaurants is appreciated.

Top Attractions in Oman

From the capital to the desert, Oman rewards those who venture beyond the coast.

  • Muscat's Grand Mosque - A masterpiece of Islamic and Persian design with the world’s second-largest hand-woven carpet. Open to non-Muslims Saturday to Thursday mornings; dress conservatively.
  • Wadi Shab - A lush canyon with turquoise pools. The 45-minute walk requires sturdy shoes; swim through the final rock tunnel to reach a hidden waterfall. Go early to avoid crowds.
  • Nizwa Fort and Souq - The 17th-century fort offers panoramic views of the Hajar Mountains. The adjacent souq is lively on Friday mornings with goat trading and silver jewellery.
  • Jebel Akhdar Mountains - Known as Green Mountain, this cool plateau is famous for rosewater and pomegranates. A 4WD is essential for the winding ascent; check road conditions first.
  • Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve - From May to September, female green turtles nest nightly. Guided tours run after dark; no flash photography is permitted. Book a room at the reserve to guarantee a slot.

Must-Try Omani Foods

Omani cuisine is aromatic, spice-forward and built around rice, meat and seafood. Seek out these dishes:

  • Majboos - Oman's national dish: fragrant basmati rice cooked with saffron, cardamom and dried limes, topped with slow-cooked chicken or lamb. Often served at celebrations.
  • Al Thareed - A hearty stew of lamb and vegetables poured over thin, crêpe-like bread. Popular during Ramadan, but available year-round in traditional restaurants.
  • Shuwa - Tender marinated lamb or goat wrapped in banana leaves and buried in an underground sand oven for up to 48 hours. Best ordered a day ahead at dedicated shuwa shops.
  • Galapagos Fish - Fresh-caught kingfish or grouper grilled whole with cumin and lemon. Head to the seafood souq in Mutrah for the catch of the day.
  • Halwa Omani - A gelatinous, rosewater-scented sweet made with dates, nuts and saffron. Served with Omani coffee at the end of a meal. It is sticky, sweet and not to be missed.

When to Visit Oman

The best time to visit Oman is between October and March, when daytime temperatures range from 25°C to 30°C along the coast and evenings are cool. This is peak tourist season, so book flights and hotels early. During these months, hiking in the Hajar Mountains and exploring the Empty Quarter are comfortable.

From April to September, coastal areas become extremely hot and humid, often exceeding 40°C. However, the Dhofar region experiences the Khareef monsoon from June to September, transforming the landscape into a misty green oasis with mild temperatures. If you plan to visit during summer, focus on Salalah and the southern coast.

Ramadan dates shift each year; during the holy month, many restaurants close during daylight hours and attractions operate on reduced schedules. Non-Muslims can still dine in hotel restaurants, but eating or drinking in public during fasting hours is illegal.

What to Pack for Oman

Oman’s varied terrain demands thoughtful packing. Whether you are hiking a wadi or dining in Muscat, these items will serve you well:

  • High SPF sunscreen and sunglasses - The sun is intense year-round, even in winter. A wide-brimmed hat also helps.
  • Light, breathable clothing - Linen trousers and long-sleeved cotton shirts protect from sun and respect local modesty. Women should bring a scarf for mosque visits.
  • Sturdy hiking boots - Essential for Wadi Shab, Jebel Akhdar and any desert trek. Trails can be rocky and slippery near water.
  • Swimwear and beach cover-up - Public beaches are conservative; wear a cover-up when walking away from the water. Topless sunbathing is strictly illegal.
  • Reusable water bottle - Tap water is safe in cities, but many travellers prefer bottled. Refill stations are common at hotels and tourist sites.
  • A travel eSIM - Stay connected with instant mobile data upon arrival. No physical SIM swap needed; activate remotely before you land.

Common questions about travel eSIMs

Answers to the questions travellers most often ask about using an eSIM overseas, from choosing a data plan to setting up before departure. Oman eSIM

Your eSIM connects to Omantel, Ooredoo Oman, and Vodafone Oman. All three provide 4G on bands B1, B3, B8, B20, and B40, and 5G on n78 and n28. Omantel and Ooredoo also support 5G n40. Vodafone does not offer 5G n40.

Coverage is extensive only in populated areas. The desert interior and mountain ranges have no mobile service at all. For rural coverage, networks use the 800 MHz B20 band. If your phone lacks B20, your signal will drop much sooner outside towns.

Yes. Many foreign phones, especially from the US, lack the 800 MHz B20 band. That band is critical for rural LTE in Oman. Without B20, you may lose connectivity on highways between cities or in villages. Check your phone's specs for B20 support before travelling.

It stops at the border. This eSIM is for Oman only. Crossing into the UAE, even near Hatta or through Al Ain, will cut your data. You would need a separate eSIM or roaming plan for the UAE. No automatic handover occurs.

No registration or passport scan is required for visitors using an eSIM. You buy and activate it online before or after arrival. Oman does not mandate SIM registration for short-term tourists on prepaid data-only eSIMs, unlike some neighbouring countries.

Compare 1 GB / 7 days, 3 GB / 15 days and 10 GB or more / 30 days. Use the shorter profiles for lighter maps and messaging use, then compare the larger allowance for streaming, video calls or work apps.

The start rule is product-specific. Review the selected plan details before installing it so you know whether any action is required before arrival.

Save the QR code, manual installation details, APN guidance and the support instructions supplied with the selected plan.
